FLW's Burnley fan pundit has told the club to strike a double deal with Man United

Burnley are preparing for life back in the Championship after coming 19th in the Premier League last season.

The Clarets will be targeting an automatic promotion push under new head coach Nicky Hayen, who has arrived from Belgian side Genk.

The Lancashire outfit earned promotion in 2023 and 2025, but have been unable to cement themselves back in the top flight.

Burnley have yet to make a significant splash in the transfer market this summer in their bid to fight for another top two finish.

The club have signed Ugo Raghouber and Ben Amos so far this summer, with their only other major permanent addition, Florentino departing in a move to Ipswich Town.

Meanwhile, other stars like Maxime Esteve and Jaidon Anthony have also been sold, so more signings will surely be sought before the 1 September deadline.

When asked which player that hasn’t been linked to the club already that they’d love to see the club sign, FLW’s Burnley fan pundit Aaron Wright named Manchester United duo Harry Amass and Shea Lacey.

He praised Lacey’s performance at Turf Moor last season under Darren Fletcher, and has heard enough positive things about Amass to want to see him join the Clarets.

“It’s actually a loan signing, I’d have a look at one Harry Amass or Shea Lacey from Man United,” Wright told Football League World.

“One’s a left-back, one’s a winger.

“Lacey looked very good at Turf Moor when he came on last season, and I think he could have a role to play in a higher-end Championship team, but probably will for United as well.

“And then, Harry Amass didn’t work at Norwich but, from everything I heard, he was pretty decent in a very, very poor Sheffield Wednesday team.

“And from a few Man United supporting mates, he sounds like a very good up and coming, promising player.”

Wright has claimed that his preference would be to bring in Amass, but that he’d ideally like to see both join Hayen’s side before the market closes in just a few weeks.

“Whether they’d let him leave on loan, or on permanent, I don’t know,” he continued.

“If you made me choose between the two, looking at our squad I’d probably put Amass above Lacey.

“But, why not have an ask about both of them? If they could get both, I don’t know I’ll admit.”

Amass joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan last summer, where he became a key figure in the team as they struggled for form.

The left-back featured 21 times, contributing one goal and one assist, before signing for Norwich in the January market.

However, injuries meant that he played just once for the Canaries before returning to Man United in the summer.

And it’s been reported that the Premier League side are open to his permanent sale in this transfer window, and have set an asking price of £6 million.

Meanwhile, Lacey made three appearances in the Premier League for the Red Devils, all of which came as a substitute.

The right-winger has featured for Michael Carrick’s side in pre-season, and could be set for a role in the first team squad in the upcoming campaign.

However, a loan could still be on the cards, with both Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo both ahead of the 19-year-old in the pecking order.

Harry Amass and Shea Lacey could be good options for Burnley

Burnley will want to get active in the transfer market sooner rather than later as we are now approaching the final weeks and they’ve still some work to do.

Adding players like Amass and Lacey could be smart options to bolster the squad at left-back and right-wing, as they are two players with a lot of potential.

They are both in need of senior minutes to gain experience, and a move to the Championship could be great for their development.

Amass has already shown he can perform well at this level, and a permanent move for £6 million could be quite tempting for the Clarets.
