West Ham eye Man United raid for left-back as Diouf nears exit
West Ham are set to target Manchester United left-back Harry Amass with the club expected to sell El Hadji Malick Diouf.
The relegated Hammers have received a bid from Brentford for Diouf worth £35m, rising to around £40m with potential add-ons.
Though the East Londoners had intended to keep Diouf as part of their Championship promotion challenge, the bid looks set to be accepted and reinvested into the squad.
According to The Athletic, West Ham will move for Manchester United’s Amass as a replacement. The 19-year-old has been with the Manchester United squad throughout pre-season but is open to an exit for regular minutes.
Amass spent last season in the Championship on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City, though saw the latter move decimated by injury.
Manchester United are looking to bring in a left-back this summer, to provide competition and cover for Luke Shaw. The Red Devils have been linked with Lewis Hall of Newcastle United, while the club are also monitoring Myles Lewis-Skelly, of Arsenal. An addition at left-back would pave the path for Amass to depart.
