Unai Emery sends message to Arsenal and other top Premier League teams

Unai Emery is undoubtedly doing a fantastic job as the manager of Aston Villa, and the Spaniard has now sent a message to Arsenal and the other top EPL teams about their readiness to continue competing at the highest level. His work at Villa has helped establish the club as a serious competitor.

Emery has consistently guided Aston Villa in their pursuit of Champions League places, while last season they won the Europa League, further demonstrating that they are a team capable of challenging the biggest clubs. With Pep Guardiola no longer in the competition, Villa will be pushing to win the EPL crown this term, with Emery remaining the mastermind behind their progress.

Emery Highlights Villa’s Progress

The Aston Villa manager now has considerable experience in England after spending some time in the country. As he prepares his team for the UEFA Super Cup against PSG, Emery has delivered a clear message to Arsenal and the other leading EPL sides, insisting that Villa are competing with them despite not yet having their financial power.

He said via the Daily Mail:

‘If we compare ourselves to other clubs like Man City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, we are competing with them. We don’t have their power… yet.’

Emery also highlighted the club’s efforts to strengthen its infrastructure and financial position, pointing to the proposed expansion of Villa Park and the importance of achieving results on the pitch.

Villa Ready to Challenge

‘The effort the club are making is huge. We are trying to extend Villa Park to 50,000 supporters. This is one step forward.’

‘We are increasing our budget through results on the pitch, sometimes selling some players, being consistent, expecting a high level and more or less keeping it. Every year the club has moved forward.’

Villa will certainly be one of the teams to watch during the 2026/2027 season, particularly as Emery continues to build a side capable of competing with England’s established elite. Their progress means Arsenal and the other leading clubs cannot afford to overlook them.

However, Arsenal are defending champions for a reason, and they will be determined to demonstrate their quality throughout the campaign. Villa’s ambition could make the upcoming season highly competitive, with Emery clearly confident that his side can continue moving forward and challenging the country’s biggest teams.
