Transfer news LIVE: Liverpool's Barcola boost, £60m for Arsenal to sign star, double Spurs deal

Hello and welcome to Mirror Football's transfer live blog for Sunday, August 16.
Liverpool have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola as a result of Paris Saint-Germain signing Mika Godts from Ajax. There was speculation that the Ligue 1 champions would be willing to trim their £145million valuation of the 23-year-old, but only if they secured a solid replacement on the left.
Having done so, it's now a waiting game to see whether the rumour mill has churned truth with regards to a potential cut-price deal for Barcola. The Frenchman has been a priority target for Liverpool for the majority of the summer, as Andoni Iraola looks for further firepower up the top end of the pitch to challenge in 2026/27.
Arsenal, meanwhile, may have to fork out at least £60m if they hope to sign Galatasaray's Victor Osimhen before next month's transfer deadline, according to sources speaking with Football Insider.
The Gunners are also looking for attacking threat this summer, having missed out on Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior following a long and drawn out transfer saga. They could now turn their attention to 27-year-old Osimhen, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the past couple of years, only for a deal to fail to come to fruition.
On the other side of North London, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing moves for Liverpool's Cody Gakpo and Manchester City's Savinho, as a summer of massive spending continues. Reports from the Netherlands suggest that Gakpo has reached an agreement in principle with regards to personal terms, with a £70m price tag being touted for his transfer.
Savinho, meanwhile, has reportedly shared an interest in working under Roberto De Zerbi this season, with Spurs looking to wrap up an £85m move for the Brazilian.
At the Etihad Stadium, the Cityzens are on the brink of securing Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille in an £85m swoop of their own, as Rodri closes in on a move to Barcelona. Having already welcomed Elliot Anderson in a £116m transfer from Nottingham Forest, City have now turned their attention to finding a suitable playing partner for the 23-year-old.
Bouaddi, 18, could be just that, following a formidable World Cup campaign with Morocco.
As per BBC Sport, Sunderland are closing in on Toulouse left-back, Dayann Mathalie.

Football FanCast report that Manchester United have held direct talks with Ibrahim Mbaye’s representatives to figure out whether a move to Old Trafford would interest the 18-year-old winger.

RMC Sport claim that Atletico Madrid are eyeing a move for Nicolas Jackson.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan with Bayern Munich, having failed to cement his place in the Chelsea first-team. And it appears as though he could be on the way out of the doors of Stamford Bridge once more ahead of next month's transfer deadline.

It is understood that Manchester City are on the verge of signing Ayyoub Bouaddi, following a lengthy pursuit of the Lille midfielder.
Attention was drawn to the 18-year-old following a remarkable World Cup display with Morocco, with the Cityzens looking increasingly likely to have secured his services for the new season.

Reports from the Netherlands suggest that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed personal terms with Cody Gakpo, as the look to bolster their attacking line following a summer of big spending in the form of a defensive and midfield overhaul.
It is understood that Gakpo, who plays predominantly on the left wing, could set the Lilywhites back £70m.

Sources have told Football Insider that Victor Osimhen will set Arsenal back at least £60m this summer, should they hope to snag the Galatasaray striker.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League fo a number of years now, with Chelsea coming agonisingly close to signing the Nigerian last summer only for a deal to fall through.

Liverpool may have just been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola, after Paris Saint-Germain welcomed Mika Godts from Ajax.
The concensus is that Les Parisiens may be willing to shave their £145m asking price of the 23-year-old having found a replacement on the left, but it remains to be seen whether speculation rings true on that.
