Tottenham transfer called off as key detail creates major issue for permanent move

Tottenham Hotspur are in the process of a first-team overhaul to give Roberto De Zerbi the best chance of success next season, but have hit a snag in the process of one deal

Manor Solomon's potential move to West Ham United has collapsed as a result of Tottenham Hotspur being unable to agree terms with their London rivals.

The Hammers are keen on bringing in the 27-year-old, as they look to bounce straight back to the Premier League following their relegation to the Championship in May.

Nuno Espirito Santo is on the market for a new winger having lost Crysencio Summerville to Al Hilal in a £68.3million move earlier this summer.

And as a result, Solomon - whose own future in North London remains up in the air - was identified as a potential target, with the two clubs engaging in talks over a potential arrangement.

However, as per the Athletic, that deal has now fallen through. The publication claim that West Ham were looking to pay less than £5m for Solomon, who joined Spurs in a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023.

The two clubs ultimately could not agree on the details around potential bonuses heading Spurs' way in the result of instant promotion back to the English top flight, however, with a deal now considered tarnished.

It will come as a bitter blow to the Lilywhites, who don't see Solomon as a part of their first-team endeavours this season and will hope to offload him ahead of September's transfer deadline.

West Ham are not the only club who are understood to hold an interest in Solomon at present, however.

Having enjoyed the second-half of 2025/26 on loan with Fiorentina, the Serie A stalwarts are also thought to be pushing for a permanent move to Tuscany for Solomon.

However, it is also claimed that the club are failing to meet Spurs' valuation of the talent, which could prevent any respective transfer.

That shouldn't stop further interest from flooding in from elsewhere, though, if Solomon's representatives' recent words are anything to go by.

Gilad Katsav told One‘s ‘Talk of the Day’ show over the weekend: "There’s a lot of talk, but if anything happens, you’ll know and we’ll keep you updated."

Solomon has had to navigate a rocky road since his arrival in North London just three years ago, spending 2024/25 on loan with Leeds United before joining Villarreal on a short-term deal last summer. He was recalled in January before joining Fiorentina for the rest of the season.
