Ronaldo marries Georgina Rodriguez as football icon shares ring picture

Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a social media post confirming he has married Georgina Rodriguez.

The Portuguese superstar shared a picture of two hands wearing gold rings on their wedding fingers following speculation that he and Rodriguez were soon to be married.

It's been reported that the duo, who have been together since 2016, were married in an 'intimate ceremony' in Portugal. People claim the wedding took place in Cascais.

Rodriguez, 32, had announced their engagement last year, sharing a picture of her ring on social media with a message which translated: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

Ronaldo, 41, met Rodriguez when he was playing for Real Madrid a decade ago. At the time, she was working as a store assistant for Gucci in the Spanish capital. They share five children together: Cristiano Jr, 16 - Ronaldo's son from a previous relationship - Eva Maria and Mateo, 9, Alana, 8 and Bella, 4.

Rodriguez, a model, has become a huge figure on social media over the course of their relationship. A documentary about her, titled "I am Georgina", aired on Netflix in 2022 followed by subsequent series in 2023 and 2024.

Ronaldo spent the summer at the World Cup with Portugal but was left heartbroken when Roberto Martinez's side were eliminated in the round of 16 by eventual winners, Spain.

He confirmed during the tournament, during an interview with Piers Morgan, that he and Rodriguez would wed later in the summer.

He said: “I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion’s trophy. I’m going to marry her because I believe it’s the right time. Not just because she’s the mother of my children — but because she’s the person I love most.”

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star currently plays in the Saudi Pro League for Al-Nassr, who he joined after departing the Red Devils. Rodriguez has also seen him play in Italy for Juventus and was by his side when he made an emotional return to Manchester United back in the summer of 2021.

Following Portugal's loss to Spain, Ronaldo confirmed it would be his final World Cup game as he reaches the final years of his career, saying: “I'm sad to be leaving the World Cup like this.

“I gave it my all. I did my best. It was my last World Cup, yes, but I'll now have time to reflect and be with my family. I won't be making any rash decisions.

“I don't decide anything in the heat of the moment. Now is not important whether I will continue [to play]. Tomorrow I will get up the same way I got up today: with a clear conscience.

“I played 23 years in the national team and won three titles. Before Cristiano, Portugal had not won anything. The Euros was the most important. For me, 2016 has the same dimension as a World Cup, honestly.”
