Manchester City have the opportunity to go top of the Premier League with a victory over Burnley and Pep Guardiola will be carefully considering his options to find success. The Catalan coach will have to assess the conditions of figures such as Rodri and Ruben Dias as they look to have a perfect end to the season.

Sunday's triumph over Arsenal has brought them to within three points of the league leaders with an inferior goal difference of one. Guardiola's men head to Turf Moor to face relegation-battling Burnley on Wednesday, a venue that has proved fruitful in recent seasons.

For City, Wednesday presents a chance to maintain their momentum following the vital victory over their Premier League title challengers on Sunday after Erling Haaland's match-winning strike. With the Gunners navigating a difficult spell, City can pile the pressure on their North London opponents.

Guardiola will not have all his players available, and he is sure to manage the minutes of some amid a busy week of action. There is little room for error at this stage of the season.

Mirror Football takes a look at City's fitness concerns heading into the clash against the Clarets.

Rodri hobbled off during the 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the weekend. The midfielder went down clutching his groin in the closing stages of the match before being substituted by Nico Gonzalez, who may reclaim his spot in the starting XI owing to his unavailability.

Guardiola expects Wednesday to come too soon for the Spaniard. He said: "I think for tomorrow he will not be ready.

"We'll see in the next games, [in the FA Cup ] semi-final against Southampton or in 12, 13 days against Everton ."

Potential return date: Southampton - FA Cup semi-final (April 25) or Everton (May 4).

Ruben Dias is anticipated to stay out of action for the journey to East Lancashire following an ankle problem sustained at the start of April. The Portuguese centre-back has been missing from the first team since being withdrawn at the interval during the Champions League loss to Real Madrid .

Guardiola confirmed during Tuesday's press briefing that the fixture against the relegation-threatened side will arrive too early for Dias. The Manchester Evening News state that he is unlikely to return before the end of the month.

Guardiola said: "He is not yet ready."

Potential return date: Everton (May 4).

Josko Gvardiol is another Manchester City player who faces a battle against the clock to feature once more before another Premier League campaign draws to a close. The Croatian was withdrawn with a fractured leg during the home clash with Chelsea on January 4.

He has since had an operation and the expectation would have been to see him return to training before the season ends, but the probability is that he will be fully recovered for pre-season.

Potential return date: Pre-season 2026
