Under pressure Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto de Zerbi has claimed that he has no regrets about the decision to sell Will Lankshear to Middlesbrough.

The forward made the move to the Riverside in the summer in a deal worth up to £20 million, and has made a strong start to the Championship season.

The 21-year-old has found the back of the net six times from eight league games, with Boro sitting third in the table.

And Michael Owen has even called on England manager Thomas Tuchel to keep the player on his radar after his impressive performances in the second tier.

De Zerbi has claimed that he has no regrets regarding the decision to sell Lankshear in the summer despite Spurs’ difficulties in front of goal in the Premier League.

The London outfit failed to score in their opening first four fixtures, and only ended their drought after already going 3-0 down to Aston Villa last weekend.

"No, I think no [regrets],” said de Zerbi, via Football London.

"[Dominic] Solanke is a good player, [Omar] Marmoush is another good player and then there was the Richarlison situation which changed in the last five days without my decision.

“Three strikers, how many strikers do you want in the squad?

“Three strikers I think are enough.

“To answer about the player in Middlesbrough, no."

Middlesbrough will be pleased with the impact Lankshear has had so far this season, with the club aiming to fight for promotion to the Premier League.
