Reports: Hawks bring back CJ McCollum on one-year deal

CJ McCollum hit two game-winners in Atlanta’s first round matchup against the Knicks in the playoffs.

Veteran guard CJ McCollum will return to Atlanta for the 2026-27 season, as reported by

. The 34-year-old veteran will reportedly re-sign with the Hawks on a one-year deal, returning for his 14th NBA season.

McCollum was

acquired by the Hawks

in January from the Wizards as part of the Trae Young trade that also sent Corey Kispert to Atlanta. The Hawks went 19-4 with McCollum as a starter down the stretch, climbing to a 46-36 finish and the No. 6 seed in the East. Although they

fell to the eventual champion New York Knicks

in six games, McCollum provided

game-winning heroics

in two of the first three games of the series. Atlanta was the only team to win more than one game against New York in the playoffs.

The 10th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, McCollum averaged 18.7 points and 3.9 assists while shooting 45.5% from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range across 76 games this season. He posted 150+ triples for the 11th straight season
