Man Utd receive £56.7million boost as Lisandro Martinez returns to training before Leeds visit
Michael Carrick has confirmed Lisandro Martinez is back in training ahead of Manchester United’s home meeting with Leeds United on Monday, after five games out with a calf injury.
Speaking on the club’s Inside Carrington channel, the United boss said the break has helped players return, with the squad training in Dublin.
The £56.7million signing from Ajax could feature against Leeds. It would be timely, as Harry Maguire serves a one-match ban for his red card at Bournemouth before the break.
Mason has been back around the group and training. Martinez re-joins a centre-back pool including Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven. Patrick Dorgu is a doubt after eight games out with a hamstring issue and had not trained as of Tuesday.
Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo are in Dublin after missing international duty and are expected to be fit for Leeds. Matthijs De Ligt did not travel because of a back injury that has sidelined him since November.
Leeds arrive for, on paper, the toughest of their seven remaining league games, buoyed by Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final shootout win at West Ham. They have not won a league game for two months.
Anton Stach is being assessed after a suspected ankle ligament injury and Joe Rodon was also withdrawn at West Ham. Gabriel Gudmundsson was not risked and Daniel James is expected to miss out with an adductor strain.
