Jude Bellingham responds to on-field spat with Real Madrid teammate Marc Cucurella

Jude Bellingham clashed with Real Madrid teammate Marc Cucurella during Spain’s 3-2 Nations League win over England at Wembley on Saturday night, before laughing off the incident.

Bellingham was unhappy with a challenge by Cucurella late in the first half and made clear his displeasure with some choice words in the ear of his club colleague.

The Madrid pair continued to argue well after the initial challenge, while the ball moved to the other side of the field.

Cucurella joined Real Madrid this summer from Chelsea, having played a key role in Spain’s World Cup triumph in North America.

The pair have history, too. At the end of a Champions League game between Bellingham’s former club Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea in 2023, the Englishman shoved his Spanish rival and the pair had to be separated.

But Bellingham made light of the clash when asked after the game at Wembley. As he walked past journalists to exit the stadium, Bellingham was asked about Cucurella and broke into a broad grin before laughing.

Spain's Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winner as the world champions capitalised on two calamitous England defensive errors to claim a thrilling victory.

Spain, now unbeaten in 39 games, made England pay in scoring their first two goals. Lamine Yamal struck in the second minute when Marc Guehi was caught in possession deep inside his own half. Alex Baena scored on the hour after Nico O'Reilly's misplaced pass handed possession back to the visitors.

Oyarzabal, who also got the winner against England in the 2024 European Championship final, struck the decider in the 74th minute with a clever dink ⁠over goalkeeper James Trafford.
