‘I’m very happy and excited’ – Guimaraes on life at Arsenal

Bruno Guimaraes says he is determined to make his mark at Arsenal by delivering more silverware for the club.

The Brazil midfielder joined the Gunners in the summer from Newcastle and says his main motivation for moving was to win trophies.

“I just arrived at Arsenal, so I’m very focused,” Guimaraes said.

“I want to win a championship there, I want to play, I want to make my mark with this new shirt. But ultimately, the future belongs to God.”

Guimaraes also opened up on his decision to leave Newcastle, where he spent five years and captained the club to a historic Carabao Cup triumph.

“Newcastle is a club where I have a very beautiful history,” he said.

“I was the first captain to win a title there after 70 years, along with my teammates, so we made our mark on the club’s history.

“I felt inside that I needed a new challenge, I was ready for it, and I am very grateful to the club for everything it has given me.”

The midfielder admitted there has been an adjustment period after leaving a familiar environment, but believes he has settled well at Arsenal.

“Starting my journey at Arsenal, I’m starting well, starting on the right foot,” he said.

“A new responsibility, which I really wanted to take on.

“Leaving a routine that I was already used to at the club and starting another one requires a little time, a little adaptation, but I think I’m doing well.

“I am very happy and excited about the new challenges.”
