England have their first Nations League win of the season after beating Czechia 2-0 in Prague.

England enjoyed a bright start, with Morgan Rogers hitting the post. Pavel Sulc was then sent off for the hosts following a poor challenge on Elliot Anderson.

The Three Lions profited from their man advantage just seconds into the second period through Anthony Gordon. Harry Kane secured victory for Thomas Tuchel's men with a clinical finish.

It is the first time that an England keeper other than Jordan Pickford has started consecutive games since Nick Pope in September 2022.

Trafford produced a brave save within the opening few minutes following an Elliot Anderson error. But other than that, he had little to do on a night that he secured a clean sheet for his nation.

Of course, Tuchel might be keeping one eye on the future once Pickford decides to hang up his gloves, but the decision to play Trafford was notable. And the Leeds man has not done his chances of more England caps any harm at all.

There were a few surprises on the teamsheet in Prague - none least Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Real Madrid star had been named in Tuchel's squad and was handed his first start under the German coach in Czechia.

He was guilty of getting pushed off of the ball far to easily in the first half, which led to a great chance for the hosts.

But he looked back to his best in the second period after stealing the ball back having pressed high and produced an inch-perfect cross to Gordon.

England were given a massive helping hand midway through the first half after Pavel Sulc saw red. The Lyon midfielder - who was linked with a surprise move to Wrexham in the summer - dived in on Anderson.

He was initially awarded a yellow card but the referee was ushered to the VAR monitor and changed his mind. It looked somewhat harsh, with Sulc only making contact briefly, while the challenge certainly looked worse in slow motion.

In fairness, the tackle was somewhat reckless and Sulc did not complain.

After scoring in his last two England appearances, it was no surprise to see Barcelona star Gordon on the scoresheet once again. And it only took him seconds into the second period to find the net.

Having been given the licence to get forwards by Tuchel, Alexander-Arnold pressed the Czech defence until they made a mistake. After stealing the ball back, he fired a perfect cross into Gordon, who nodded home into the far post.

Gordon has now contributed to at least one goal in each of his last six appearances for his nation. He should have had another two assists after teeing up former Newcastle teammate Lewis Hall but the defender rolled wide, while Rogers nodded wide from another of his crosses.

It wasn't going to be long before Harry Kane was on the scoresheet was it? After his costly penalty miss against Spain, the Bayern Munich frontman would have been keen to get back in the goals.

And he did that in typical Kane fashion. A loose ball fell to the striker in the penalty area and he fired clinically past Kovar. It leaves Kane with an eye-watering 87 goals for his nation.

That form - as well as his displays for Bayern - should see him right among the favourites to claim the Ballon d'Or.
