Europe’s deadliest finishers: Kane tops xG over-performance as Wilson, Dembélé shine

Expected goals (xG) is a metric used to determine how likely a footballer is to score a chance and is widely used to measure the quality of finishing.

But who are the most clinical players across Europe's top-five leagues this season? We've looked at the biggest over-performers between xG and goals scored.

Tajon Buchanan has found his shooting boots at Villarreal this season. The Canadian winger has scored six times for the Spanish side, including a hat-trick against Girona in October.

Buchanan's opener in that treble, scored from virtually the byline, has contributed to his high xG over-performance. The 27-year-old's six La Liga goals have come despite just 2.24 xG created.

Ousmane Dembele has not reached last season's Ballon d'Or heights during an injury-impacted campaign, but the Paris Saint-Germain superstar has been lethal when on the pitch. He's scored 10 goals in only eight Ligue 1 starts, comfortably outscoring his Expected Goals figure.

Nico Paz has dominated the headlines at Como this season but another emerging creator has quietly impressed alongside him.

Martin Baturina has scored six Serie A goals from an xG of just 1.34, including a sensational late equaliser against Bologna.

He's ready for more football next season, with Real Madrid expected to trigger a buy-back on Paz.

Few footballers boast a goal catalogue better than Harry Wilson . The Welsh winger has made scoring stunners a habit and has quietly compiled his own Goal of the Season competition at Fulham .

Unsurprisingly, his collection of spectacular strikes have contributed to a massive xG over-performance.

Is it any surprise to see Harry Kane at the top of this list?

The Bayern Munich machine is world football's finest finisher right now and, perhaps, the planet's best player.

Kane has scored 31 goals in just 26 league games for Bayern and a whopping 49 goals in all competitions.
