Arsenal sent JJ Gabriel transfer warning after Man Utd exit demand

Arsenal have been urged to do their "due diligence" should they consider signing JJ Gabriel, who has made it clear he wants to quit Manchester United.

The teenage prodigy shocked the Red Devils recently when he expressed a desire to leave the club. The 15-year-old has been fast-tracked through United’s academy ranks and is thought of as one the brightest young talents in world football.

Last year he was named the Under-18 Premier League Player of the Season last term despite his tender age, but is poised to move on without ever making a senior appearance. It is thought that Michael Carrick's decision to play Shea Lacey and Harry Amass in the Champions League last week was the final straw, claims The Sun.

But with Europe's top clubs circling, PSG are keen whilst Gabriel has also been seen in Barcelona, Darren Bent believes the Gunners would want to know more about the player's character before they made any move.

He told talkSport: "So say he was going to go to Arsenal, JJ Gabriel, Arsenal straightaway would go, 'hold on a second here', because they would have played against Manchester United and seen how special he is. First thing they’d do is go, 'Hold on a second, why is he going to be leaving?', so they would call up Manchester United straightaway and go: 'Alright, what’s the problem?'

"If Arsenal are thinking about taking him then Arsenal would call up Manchester United straightaway and ask what’s the problem. That happens all over the globe. It goes on even at first-team level: what’s he like as a character? Why is he leaving?"

Young players moving between top clubs has become increasingly common. United defender Ayden Heaven has become a first-team regular since leaving Arsenal to join the Red Devils.

Bent insists United cannot be held to ransom by the teenager, no matter how talented, as the former Premier League striker insists not every young star who is tipped for big things goes on to deliver.

He has also raised concerns over Gabriel's conduct given he's yet to accomplish anything as a professional.

Bent claimed: "I just don’t understand that at 15, when you’ve barely scratched the surface, why you would try and throw demands out like that. There are more senior players out there who are more accomplished than you who have conducted themselves better than this."
