Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in limbo over Man City 115 charges saga after CEO admission

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur continue to await the verdict of the case involving Manchester City's alleged 115-plus financial breaches

Where is it? The Premier League plays on while the shadow of the case involving Manchester City’s alleged 115-plus financial breaches hangs over the sport.

It has been more than three years since the charges were brought against Man City, while it is closing on two years since the hearing into the allegations began, yet no verdict has been announced.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters spoke in August when questioned on the case. He admitted that the entire process is taking longer than anyone had expected.

"There's only one available option, which is to allow the process to reach its natural conclusion, and I can't talk about the substance of the case, I can't talk about the timing of the case.

"Our rules are very clear about that. Yesterday, I accepted that it would take longer than perhaps anyone had expected. The knowledge that people wanted to know - what the outcome was - needed to know what the outcome was. But the process was the process. I literally can't answer beyond what I've already said."

For Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and all other clubs keenly awaiting information about the proceedings, they have remained in a state of limbo. Continuing to play on and face City despite the backdrop of the case.

Asked by the BBC in August, Arsenal CEO Richard Garlick spoke out publicly on the matter. Garlick was the Director of Football at the Premier League from August 2018 to May 2021.

"Everybody - the league and the teams - would want the clarity around what's going to happen next,” he said. "But it's not something that I can control.

“It's not something that I can speculate on. And I just hope that there is a solution very quickly."

There is justifiable frustration amongst club supporters who simply want clarity on the situation, particularly regarding when a verdict might indeed be announced, regardless of its findings.

For now, however, fans must remain in this purgatorial state and watch out for any further updates on the matter from the outside.
