Arne Slot admits Liverpool were fortunate to avoid a heavier defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain after coming away from the Parc des Princes 2-0 down in their Champions League quarter-final.
Goals in either half from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were enough to give the reigning European champions a healthy advantage heading into next week's return leg at Anfield. But PSG missed a glut of golden chances late on in the game to put the tie beyond Liverpool , who also survived two penalty shouts.
While a 2-0 deficit is not insurmountable, Liverpool's 16th defeat of the season in all competitions leaves Slot's men with a mountain to climb at Anfield next week.
And the Dutchman was quick to concede that his side were outclassed in Paris.
"If you reflect on the whole game I think we are lucky with only losing two nil," Slot told TNT Sports.
"The first goal felt hard. I think it was very good for us we are still in the tie, we can bring them to Anfield and we know how good Anfield can be for us."
Liverpool had Giorgi Mamardashvili to thank for keeping the score down, with the Georgian producing a string of saves. Ousmane Dembele came close to adding a third in the final minutes, only for the post to deny him.

Slot's men lined up in a 5-3-2 formation to try and keep PSG at bay but were disappointing in attack, failing to register a single shot on target in a Champions League game for the first time in six years.
When the former Feyenoord chief was asked if his team created enough, he replied: "Yes and no, yes because we want to create much more chances, no because there was not a lot to create for us.
"We tried many times to get them high, but they were able to play through us when we went man-to-man. I think that happened in the second half as well. There were a few times with players in promising positions."
